About Schedules of Indian Constitution

  • The Schedules of the Indian Constitution are inspired by the Government of India Act of 1935.
  • Originally, the constitution contained 8 schedules. 4 schedules were added subsequently.

First Articles: 1 and 4 Names of States and Union Territories with their territorial extent
Second Articles: 59, 65, 75, 97, 125, 148, 158, 164, 186 and 221 Provisions related to emoluments, allowances, privileges of:

  • Speaker & Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly in states
  • Chairman & Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha
