Among the many resources available for Environment for UPSC, one book consistently stands out as the most trusted, exam-oriented, and complete solution—PMF IAS Environment and Ecology. Here we explain why PMF IAS Environment is widely regarded as the best environment book for UPSC Prelims and Mains, and why toppers, mentors, and serious aspirants rely on it year after year.
Why Environment and Ecology Is Crucial for UPSC
- When it comes to UPSC Civil Services preparation, Environment and Ecology is a high-scoring, high-weightage, and trend-defining area—cutting across Prelims, GS Mains (GS-III), Essay, and even Interview.
Over the last decade, UPSC has:
- Increased conceptual and analytical questions from Environment
- Linked ecology with current affairs, climate change, biodiversity, agriculture, energy, and economy
- Asked elimination-based, statement-heavy MCQs in Prelims
- Expected interdisciplinary answers in GS-III Mains
This makes random notes, scattered PDFs, or overly academic textbooks inefficient. What aspirants need is one integrated, exam-centric source.
Why PMF IAS Environment Book Is the Best for UPSC
- Holistic coverage of UPSC Civil Services Exam (CSE) Prelims and Mains syllabus.
- Extraordinary colorful images, diagrams, infographics and maps for improved retention.
- Colour coding and highlighting to identify Prelims and Mains focus content for quick-revision.
- Lucid language with short sentences to conserve energy and cover more in less time.
- 2011-25 Prelims and Mains Previous Year Questions (PYQs) are strategically integrated under relevant headings to help you understand the trend.
- Important Current Affairs are smartly integrated under relevant sections. This enables you to know how to link dynamic content with static content.
- Best-in-class print and page quality so that you can use highlighters worry-free.
- Additional Perks: Free LENS Current Affairs PDFs, Previous Year Questions (PYQs), Most Probable Questions (MPQs) and more

One of PMF IAS’s biggest strengths is how it integrates:
- International conventions (CBD, UNFCCC, CMS, CITES)

- IPCC, IPBES, IUCN reports
- Environment-related court judgments
This ensures you don’t need separate current affairs notes for Environment.
