History
- Bal Kalyan Puraskar
- Instituted in 1979 as the National Child Welfare Awards, renamed in 2018 as Bal Kalyan Puraskar.
- Given as recognition to individuals and institutions contributing significantly to child development, child protection, and child welfare.
- Eligibility for Individuals: Indian Citizen residing in India, aged 18 years or above (as of 31st August of the respective year), with a minimum of 7 years of work for the cause of children.
- Eligibility for Institutions: Should not be entirely funded by the government; has been in the field of child welfare for 10 years.
- Bal Shakti Puraskar
- Instituted in 1996 as the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement, renamed in 2018 as Bal Shakti Puraskar.
- Recognizes exceptional achievements of children in various fields, including innovation, scholastic achievements, social service, arts & culture, sports, and bravery.
- Eligibility: Indian Citizen residing in India, aged between 5 and 18 years.
- The two awards were renamed & combined into Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in 2018.
