Description

Topics of Physical Geography and Environment have a lot of convergence. We strongly recommend you buy both the Notes as the topics covered in one notes are not included in the other. As 95% of the users buy both, it is not logical for me to add the same content in both the notes as it would increase the number of pages and the printing cost.

FAQs

  • Yes, absolutely, these notes are useful for UPSC 2021 cycle and beyond.
  • The notes cover both the static part and the dynamic part of the syllabus.
  • The static part is ready and can be downloaded anytime.
  • The dynamic part (current affairs and contemporary issues) are being uploaded on a weekly basis since May 2019. You can download them as and when they are uploaded.
  • There are two aspects to these notes
    1. the static part which doesn’t change much with time, and
    2. the dynamic part (current affairs and contemporary issues) that needs to be constantly updated.
  • The static notes are fully revised and updated in April 2019. Hence, they don’t need to be revised or updated for UPSC 2021 cycle.
  • The dynamic part (current affairs and contemporary issues) is already being covered on a weekly basis. Updation of the dynamic part is a continuous process.

  • Yes, these notes cover quite comprehensively both the static as well as the dynamic aspects (contemporary issues and current affairs) of the syllabus that is required for GS.
  • Everything is explained in good detail and you don’t need to go net-digging to clear your doubts.
  • Going for multiple sources will only kill your time and energy (there are many other subjects to be covered, you see! You simply can’t afford to spend months on a single subject unless you want to do a PhD!). Just stick to these notes and do a lot of revision and practise.
  • NCERTs are important for a reason that UPSC lifts some lines (verbatim) as it is from NCERTs while framing prelims and mains questions.
  • NCERTs are already covered in our notes. You need not cover them separately.
  • Instead, you can focus on Our Notes + a Good Test Series (All the test series cover every nook and corner of NCERTs).

Downloads Information

  • Downloads, Updates, Current Affairs etc. are accessible on https://www.pmfias.com/downloads for up to ONE / TWO Years (as per your choice) from the date of purchase.

Study Guide

  1. Analyse the past 5-6 years’ UPSC CSE Prelims and Mains question papers to understand the pattern and nature of questions asked from Geography.
  2. Skim through our notes to get a broader understanding of the structure of the subject and the contents.
  3. First Reading: Just cover the first few paragraphs (mostly the introduction part) of each topic to get a broader understanding of the scheme of things.
  4. Reanalyse the past 5-6 years’ UPSC CSE Prelims and Mains question papers.
  5. Second Reading: Cover a few more paragraphs of each topic. Don’t cover the topics in depth. The second reading is meant to understand the importance of each topic for the exam.
  6. Reanalyse the past 5-6 years’ UPSC CSE Prelims and Mains question papers. By this time you will have a brief understanding of the focus and non-focus areas.
  7. Third Reading: You will now study the focus areas in-depth and just skim through the surface of the non-focus areas (non-focus areas usually are tough with a lot of jargon).
  8. Take a good test series for both Prelims and Mains to identify your strengths and weakness.
  9. Revise, practise test series and chart your own plan based on your strengths and weaknesses.
  • I have already highlighted important facts, terms and sentences in bolded letters and in blue and red colours in the notes.
  • To identify individual focus areas you need to analyse the past 5-6 years’ UPSC CSE Prelims and Mains question papers.

Geography-Sample

  • Not necessary, in my opinion.
  • Just use the DOC files (MS Word files) to make short notes for quick revision for both Prelims and Mains. This way you can save a lot of time.
  • Yes, they are quite useful for creating a good base for Geography Optional, especially physical geography portion which needs strong basics.
  • Pmfias notes cover up to 30-35% of the Geography Optional Syllabus.

It is ok

The content is good, but the dimensions are awkwardly out of proportion. They could have incorporated more pages instead of increasing individual page's size. The book is awkward to handle while reading. Also I received the book with torn book cover and some pages were folded and dirty as well. Overall not so good shopping experience but content wise it is ok.

Indebted!

The best notes ever. I am amazed by the quality of notes provided at such low cost sir. If I clear this exam I owe to your notes specifically for Geography & Current Affairs material on Agri, Geo, Envt, S&T.. please do not discontinue the Current Affairs.. It is very very beneficial for many aspirants like me. I believe you are the only person providing CAs for Geo and Agri and it is qualitative too. So thank you sir once again!

Year(s) = Validity of the Downloads

The validity of the Current Affairs Course is from July 2023 to December 2024 (18 months).

For the rest of the products, the validity is as follows:

1 Year Validity == Validity of the Download links (both Static & the Subject Related Current Affairs) is 1 Year from the date of purchase.

2 Years Validity == Validity of the Download links (both Static & the Subject Related Current Affairs) is 2 Years from the date of purchase.

We strongly recommend a 2 Year Plan as the UPSC Cycle lasts for close to 2 Years.

For example,

If you purchase the notes with “Download Validity == 1 Year,” on 25/09/2023, then you will be able to download the Static & the Subject Related Current Affairs files till 25/09/2024.

If you purchase the notes with “Download Validity == 2 Years,” on 25/09/2023, then you will be able to download the Static & the Subject Related Current Affairs files till 26/09/2025.

If we bring out the Updated (New) Editions of the Static Files within your subscription period, you will be able to download them without paying anything extra.

Irrespective of the package you choose, Current Affairs of Geography, Environment, Sci & Tech and Indian Agriculture are available from Jan 2023.

Current Affairs of 2022 & earlier are available for free on PMF IAS Google Drive Folder.

Once the payment is made, you need to log in to the Downloads Page to download the files (check your email for the login details).
